The illustration shows the city of Quito, Ecuador and a “Pechinegro” hummingbird, considered a symbol of this city. - THE MEANING OF MISHKI YAKU
MishkiYaku comes from the Ecuadorian Kichwa. It means “delicious water”. - PACHAMAMA
The hummingbird is used here to represent the spirit of “Pachamama”, a type of “Earth Mother” revered by the indigenous peoples of the Andes. The goddess presides over planting and harvesting.
